Carbon Reduction Policy
Carbon Reduction Plan
Supplier name: Centric HR Limited
Publication date: April 2025
Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Centric HR is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2028.
Centric HR Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions — with a clear and realistic target of reaching this goal by 2028, significantly ahead of the UK Government’s 2050 timeline. As of April 2024, we have transitioned to a low-impact, remote-first operating model that significantly reduces our environmental footprint.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Baseline Year: 2022 | |
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.
These baseline emissions are based on calculations covering the year May 2021 to April 2022. Emissions for both this baseline year and current reporting year are calculated following a market-based methodology.
Baseline year emissions: April 2022
EMISSIONS | TOTAL (tCO2e) |
Scope 1 |
~8.8 tCO₂e
|
Scope 2 | ~5.23 tCO₂e
|
Scope 3 (Upstream and downstream value chain activities including printing and supplies, transportation and distribution costs) |
~0.5 tCO₂e
|
Total Emissions | (Scope 1–3): ~14.5 tCO₂e/year |
Current Emissions Reporting
Reporting Year: May 2024 – April 2025
EMISSIONS | TOTAL (tCO2e) |
Scope 1 | ~0.0 |
Scope 2 | ~1.2 |
Scope 3 (Upstream and downstream value chain activities including printing and supplies, home working, transportation and distribution costs) | ~2.0 |
Total Emissions | ~3.2 tCO₂e (Reduction from 2022 Baseline: ~78%) |
Activity |
Calculation Assumptions |
Home Working | 0.0016 tCO₂e/day/person (UK government estimate) |
EV Driving | 0.053 kg CO₂e/mile (UK 2025 electric grid average) |
Train Travel | 0.041 kg CO₂e/mile (UK intercity average) |
Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
With emissions now at ~3.2 tCO₂e annually, compared to over 14.5 tCO₂e previously, a significant 78% decrease, and we are on track achieve Net Zero by 2028 through a mix of behaviour change, electrification and carbon offsetting.
We project that carbon emissions will reduce to zero by 2028.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2022 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 3.02 tCO2e, a 78% reduction against the 2022 baseline.
✅ Transition away from a physical office location to a remote first working model
✅ All company vehicles now electric, eliminating exhaust emissions
✅Monitoring of homeworking and commuting data
Future carbon reduction initiatives
In the future we plan to implement further measures such as:
✅ Transition to 100% remote work — no physical office.
✅ Use of shared electric vehicles only.
✅ No business travel unless essential — with preference for train.
✅ Fully paperless — zero emissions from printing or office hardware.
✅ Staff encouraged to use green energy tariffs at home.
Carbon Reduction Targets
We have already taken major steps to reduce our emissions, but we aim to go further:
🎯 2025: Offset all unavoidable emissions (~3.2 tCO₂e) using verified providers.
🎯 2026: Achieve 100% of staff using renewable home electricity tariffs.
🎯 2027: Implement home energy monitoring and smart consumption tools.
🎯 2028: Reach full Net Zero through elimination and offsetting of all operational emissions.
The graph below shows our current carbon reduction and planned forecasted net zero deliverables.
Emissions drop from 14.5 tCO₂e in 2022 to ~3.2 tCO₂e,
Sustained through 2025,
Then a gradual reduction to Net Zero by 2028

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 006 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard[1] and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting[2].
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard[3].
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
