The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2023 - Centric HR

The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2023 has just been published. This sets out the annual increase in tribunal compensation limits.

Key increases for people to take note of are:

  • Compensatory Award: £105,707 (previously £93,878);
  • A ‘week’s pay’ (for basic award and redundancy payments) – £643 (previously £571).

The changes take effect for dismissals from 6 April 2023.

The eagle-eyed amongst you will note that the increases are more than usual this year. This goes some way to addressing the fact that over many years the increases have not kept up with wage growth / inflation.

Interestingly only 10% of total claims or challenges get to tribunal but 90% of the that get to tribunal win their case!
